This hidden gem is better than any michelin recommended restaurants in Penang. One can taste the quality of the food they used and the effort in every tasty dish they serve. Seriously high quality good food. Recommend to try their Assam Pedas, Curry Tumis, Jiu Hur Char & Assam Prawn. You won't regret.

Our last dinner in Penang before we head back home and we’re so happy that we decided to try out this Peranakan restaurant which was highly recommended by a dried goods shop lady owner at Chowrasta market. No regrets lah! Quiet quaint authentic Penang Peranakan restaurant. Many famous people has been here evidenced by the photos hanging on the wall. Regretfully only my wife and I therefore we couldn’t order more of the dishes to try. And Juliet who served us was friendly and so nice of her to advise us on what to order. So we ended up having the Wild Boar Rendang (meat was so tender!!), Nasi Ulam w Kerabu Kacang Botol on the side (this is like 2-in-1 dish refreshing and appetising!!), Chap Chye (generous serving), Sambal Goreng w cashews & garlic flakes (out of this world!!!) and Grouper Assam Pedas (sweet sour flavourful!). Except for the chap Chye and Assam pedas, everything else was so unique and special like nothing we’ve ever eaten before. And I must say that everything is so deliciously good which is one reason for us to want to come back and try more dishes! This place is truly where the locals eat! The lady boss came out of the kitchen to have a chat with us and told us that only in Melaka and Singapore the Peranakan eateries serve Buah Keluak, Penang Peranakan don’t serve it.Never knew that! Always learning something new! A must try in my opinion if you’re in Penang looking for a Peranakan restaurant to eat. True hidden gem in Penang!

2nd time here and we made the right choice. The Assam fish was super! I wish I could just finish the Assam soup. The kiam chai boey is another dish we ordered. The kiam chai (pickled vege) was home made and you can still taste the slight bitterness of the vege. You just have to come and try and you will keep coming back!

It serves authentic, home-style Peranakan dishes. The restaurant has a cozy and nostalgic feel. However, prices are slightly higher than typical local eateries. The waitress is very helpful and friendly.

Third visit, definitely a standard decent Nyonya Food. The lady boss is very welcoming and friendly, explained and help us order food that is catered to number of pax. Food arrived fast, each dishes were delicious! First time trying nasi Ulam, definitely an interesting dish, herbs were finely chopped and mixed. The raw onion anchioves side dish paired very well with the rice. Overall the dishes that is most worth it would be Assam stingray, and vinegar pork trotter! The meat give was generous, and the ingredients were fresh! The Assam soup is drinkable, with lots of onions and herbs! On the other hand, the petai and jiuhuchar is abit expensive.. Overall every dish is delicious! Definitely reminds me of my grandmother’s cooking!
